Overview

Hen Island is a small hamlet filled with alluvial in the middle of Perfume River, on the left of Hue Citadel.

Coming here in your Hue tours, do not forget to step on the path of crunching mussel shells to hear the sound of the clam rushing down the Perfume River, the sound of the mussel pattering to drain before cooking, and to enjoy the bitter and salty taste of the bowl of mussel rice. At that time, this place was called "Con Can land".

Although the area is not large, it is home to many historical sites such as old communal houses, pagodas, temples, and French-era churches. The life here is extremely peaceful, like an oasis in the heart of bustling streets.

In addition, Hen Island is also a "food island" with specialty dishes related to mussels, typically rice mussels, vermicelli mussels, and noodle mussels. There is another famous dish called corn sweet soup. Corn here is better than ones in other places in Hue.
